Job description: A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a deskside support engineer to join a well-regarded company based in Bristol.

 

The Deskside Support Engineer is required to provide software support and hardware support, both remotely and at the desk-side on IT products within the required Service Level Agreement (SLA).

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience

 

  • Strong product related technical background

  • Excellent Knowledge of Windows 7, Office 2010 and above

  • SCCM knowledge

  • Manual installations, handovers and user end-training

  • Must be willing to undergo and be eligible for SC Clearance

Service Desk Analyst

Job description: A Fantastic opportunity has arisen for x5 Service Desk Analysts to join a reputable organisation based in Leeds.

Working hours - 7am -7pm

​

The key role of a Service Desk Analyst is to provide first line support and offer problem resolution to external customers, assisting them with hardware and software problems via the phone and email.

​

Skills/experience required for a Service Desk Analyst;

​

  • A good technical knowledge of Windows 7, 8 & 10.

  • Windows Server and MS Exchange Administration/support including Active Directory 

  • Microsoft Office 

  • Remote Control Software i.e. VNC, Dameware, Bomgar

  • Excellent telephone manner 

  • Ability to effectively communicate with both customers and colleagues

Responsibilities for a First line support analyst;

​

  • Logging and categorising calls on the call logging system with high standards of detail 

  • Proactive in providing feedback to the user regarding an issue until a resolution can be found 

  • Liaising with intermediate support teams within the department and also third party companies

  • Record clearly and concisely the fault and resolution at a detailed level and in line with any timescales set out in the Service Level Agreement 

  • To manage the support provision from any third party supplier's

  • To provide trend analysis from Service Desk software including assisting with of daily/weekly reports 

  • To provide customers with regular updates and agree call resolution before closure 

  • Making sure that a suitable level of first time fixes is achieved without escalating the problem 

  • Housekeeping tasks, monitoring, checking and dispensing fixes for known issues as small as they be 

  • Escalate unresolved incidents to second line support teams

​

Desirable Knowledge and experience for a service desk analyst but is not essential;

​

  • Experience with ITSM tools such as HP Service Centre and Service Now 

  • Any experience of Citrix, backup solutions and cloud computing environments would be beneficial 

  • ITIL Foundation certification

Essential requirements for a Windows Desktop Specialist;

​

  • Experience working in finance industry, investment banking

  • 5 years software experience dealing with critical business systems 

  • Deskside support technical experience operating within a complex environment with demonstrable experience in providing third level technical support within a team

  • Deep technical understanding of Windows desktop x64operating systems

  • A good understanding of how a modern browser works from a desktop and network perspective

  • Knowledge of software packaging tools (e.g. InstallShield,App-V, Wise)

  • Knowledge of third party tools used to manage and support largeenvironments (Appsense, Splunk)

  • Experience in engineering large scale deployments and migrations of Office 2010 and 2013

  • Broad Knowledge of undertaking projects in Finance Industry

  • Experience of configuring and supporting Microsoft Outlook in an Exchange environment

  • Knowledge of a Windows network infrastructure including ActiveDirectory, SCCM, GPO

  • Strong troubleshooting mindset and understanding parsing eventlogs, sysinternals tools and memory dumps

  • Experience of large scale desktop deployment tools and techniques in a large distributed organization

  • Scripting ability desirable (e.g. Powershell, WMI, VBscript)

  • An excellent understanding of ITIL Service Support and Deliverydisciplines and methodologies

  • Experience using a help desk call management system         

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer care skills

  • Strong Technical grasp of strategic platforms such as Microsoft, Networks and Security, WAN, LAN, Exchange 2010. MCSE qualification is desirable.
