CAD Designer/Technician

An exciting opportunity has become available for a CAD Designer to join a fantastic organisation based in Andover.

As a CAD Technician, you will be responsible for projects from Sales Handover to production. You will produce drawings to the appropriate level of detailing (including specialist materials) for joinery construction. You will interact and work collaboratively with clients, advisors, design professionals and internal project teams. Key skills required for a CAD Designer:

• 5 years CAD Design experience

• Strong understanding of furniture and cabinetry construction and materials and strong attention to technical detail.

• Strong aesthetic and technical design skills and awareness of ergonomics within a design.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office

• AutoCAD 2D

• Solidworks

• Ability to work within budget constraints.

Key responsibilities for a CAD Designer:

• Take the lead role in controlling drawings from concept through to construction, ensuring they are consistent, accurate, current, effectively communicated and meet the demands of the budget.

• To deliver 2D & 3D working drawings on CAD

• Key participation in project handover meetings, taking the project(s) forward from sale stage.

• Attending project meetings to facilitate successful project delivery.

• Prepare cutting lists where necessary.

• Report changes/variations to specification/drawings back to estimating.

• Co-ordinate ordering of specialist materials with procurement i.e. metalwork.

• Ensure drawings produced are cost-efficient.

• Ensure that all drawings produced include the correct information as set out to the department standards.

• Produces drawings in a timely manner ready for handover to Contracts Manager and production.
