Location - based in Hounslow


Key skills required for a Database Administrator:

  • 3+ years experience of DBA

  • Extensive experience with data warehouses

  • Proven working experience as a Database Administrator

  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end-user applications

  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL

  • Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools

  • Familiarity with programming languages API

  • Excellent understanding of the development life cycle for business applications across a number of technologies in the UK and International marketplace.

  • Strong knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts

  • T-SQL (MS SQL Server 2014, 2012)

  • SQL Server engine, performance tuning, storage internals, indexing, and statistics

  • Problem solving, solution architecture, and build

  • Database & data warehouse design (preferably Kimball), architecture and optimization

  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) 2012, 2014

  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) 2012, 2014

  • SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) 2012, 2014

  • MDX & DAX Scripting


Key responsibilities for a Database Administrator:

  • Debugging monitoring and troubleshooting BI solutions

  • Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user’s specialised role

  • Design and implement database in accordance to end users information needs and views

  • Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in the appropriate format, and in a timely manner

  • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data

  • Minimise database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses

  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users

  • Determine, enforce, and document database policies, procedures, and standards

  • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity

  • Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required

  • Use ETL tools to load data into the data store(s)

  • Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines, and repeatable processes

  • Provide support as required to ensure the availability and performance of enterprise data and BI environments for both external and internal users

  • Ensure proper configuration management and change controls are implemented for your sphere of influence
