An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Owner/ITSM/PO to join a well-established company based in Kettering, Northampton.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has a proven track record in Enterprise class software applications and knowledge of the ITSM market.

This demanding role requires a focused and self- motivated ITSM Product Owner who is capable of working both as part of a team and independently. To ensure the quality of applications produced by development meets required Company product standards, in order that it is of an acceptable standard and therefore available to customers within agreed timelines, to meet new software release dates.


As a Product Owner you will have the following skills/knowledge;

  • Proven track record in Enterprise class software applications

  • Knowledge of ITSM market and needs of customers

  • Ability to discuss complex software concepts and product capabilities in business relevant manner

  • Strong customer interactions skills to be credible and trusted

  • Well organized, self-motivated and driven by success both personal and for the company

  • Works on own initiative to deadlines without constant supervision

  • Expert communicator, with extremely well- developed skills in listening, building rapport


Education, Training & Specialist Knowledge required for a ITSM PO

Computer Science Degree or equivalent


Travel

Many of their customers are located throughout the UK and world. This position may require UK and overseas travel as needed and overnight stays outside the standard working day.


ITSM Product Owner Work Activities

1.Create product owner requirements specification that developers can use to create applications that support the functional, technical and visual requirements and conduct analysis of the existing system. Requirements documentation needs to be precise, logical in layout, capture the expected user experience.

2.Liaise with other technical areas in IT Services to gather, clarify and define requirements.

3.Coordinate plan & schedule projects for development teams. Have a clear vision of features to implement and communicates the project vision to the team at the beginning of every sprint/release after deciding on acceptance of rejection of customer SERS/changes to the customer.

4.Responsible for liaising with development & organising software releases & schedules, ensuring realistic time frames are understood, the risks & inter-dependencies with other projects & business expectations.

5.Cost effectively plan, optimise & schedule project activities. Prioritize /adjust the backlog during the sprint planning meeting where the team selects the amount of work they believe they can do during each sprint, and how many sprints will be required. 

6.Prioritizes user stories by business value and decides which user stories are scheduled into sprints. Furthermore, responsible for ensuring all agreed project deadlines are recorded, responded to & completed within agreed time frames. Ensuring new requirements are considered but not committed to during a period of a sprint.

7.Create, manage and prioritise the product backlog based on the business requirements. Prioritise /adjust the backlog during the sprint planning meeting where the team selects the amount of work they believe they can do during each sprint, and how many sprints will be required. 

8.Responsible for bringing together the development & documentation of product specifications. Creates the user stories, acceptance criteria and test specifications.

9.Responsible for liaising with our customers/resellers on the production of development feature specifications & time frames. Fully documenting requirements; resource estimation; creating & agreeing a project plan. Deciding the features of the product which stem from an understanding of the market, the customer and the business in order to make sound decisions.

10.Participates in project planning, daily stand-up meetings (scrums), reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other scrum-related meetings

Responsible for liaising with the development department on sprints, identified problems & incidents; ensuring they are progressed in a timely & efficient manner; keeping the required persons informed.

11.Responsible for ensuring all development & support staff are trained in projects controls & utilise formal documentation standards. Responsible for ensuring all staff project resource usage is accountable & cost effectively utilised.

12.Available at all times to discuss requirements with the team, business, partners/customers.

13.Possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to work closely with key internal and external stakeholders and communicate project updates and status (including scope creep and why to internal customers) at any given time.

14.Oversees the product roadmap.
