Data Cabling/infrastructure/AV engineer 


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Data cabling engineer to join a fantastic organisation based in Ringwood. Although the base is Ringwood, this role will include travel across the south and the Midlands.

Job Purpose for a Physical Infrastructure Engineer:

To provide additional resource to the Physical Infrastructure Installation Team. The role includes the installation of Copper and Fibre Optic Networks as well as the installation of network devices such as CCTV Cameras, Wireless Access Points and Access Control Solutions. Key Skills required for a Data Cabling Engineer;

  • Excellent Communication, Professionalism, organisation, eagerness to learn and ability to take instruction.

  • From a technical standpoint, the successful candidate should be conversant with basic networking principles as well as network infrastructure products. Whilst no official qualifications in these areas are required they would be beneficial.

  • Any other relevant experience in areas such as Linux Server Platforms, Virtualisation, and Voice Over IP would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities for a Network Engineer:

  • To assist physical installation manager and Infrastructure Design Engineer in the deployment of wired and wireless networks to a given specification.

  • To undertake the troubleshooting of Wired and Wireless Networks

  • To undertake the installation of physical cabling infrastructure (both fibre optic and copper).

  • To undertake the installation of classroom Audio Visual installations such as projectors, Interactive White Board and Interactive Large Format Displays.

  • To undertake the installation of Access Control Systems in accordance with an agreed design.

  • To undertake the installation of CCTV systems in accordance with an agreed design.

  • Terminate and test physical network infrastructure and cabling in accordance with given network design.

  • To undertake any other duties in connection with this position as may be required by the company.
