Job Description

This role (Senior Graphic Designer) is a vital part of a busy Marketing Team, supporting the Marketing Manager with the production of marketing and communication materials for a manufacturer. 

The Marketing Team produces a high volume of materials for a range of internal and external purposes to support the business. 


Experience Required for a Senior Graphic Designer:


Ideally a minimum of 5 years commercial Graphic Design experience, with full knowledge of packaging and print process. 


Fully conversant in:

  • Indesign

  • Illustrator

  • Photoshop

  • Adobe Acrobat

  • Dreamweaver

  • Quark

  • CS6

  • Mailchimp

  • Word

  • Excel

  • Powerpoint

  • Mac experience essential

Person Specification for a Senior Graphic Designer:

  • The ideal candidate will be a team player, working alongside and supporting the Marketing Manager

  • Punctual, polite and able to communicate with various levels of staff

  • Capable of building and maintaining strong, respectful and effective partnerships with the many internal departments with whom Marketing work to complete projects

  • Full knowledge of print process

  • The ability to take a project from brief through to artwork

  • Effective project management, taking responsibility for individual projects from concept through to print

  • Must be meticulous when it comes to attention to detail

  • Creative – must have artistic flair and have an eye for design

  • Ability to multi-task/stability under pressure – reacts well to change and stays positive despite setbacks

  • Flexible – maintains effectiveness in a fast moving and/or changing environment and with varying tasks, responsibilities or people

  • Self-motivated – must be able to work unsupervised

  • Able to stick to deadlines

Key responsibilities for a Senior Graphic Designer:

Packaging to include:

  • Creation of cutter guides to speed up lead times

  • Creating packaging artwork for the company and customer own brand products, to include mock ups and producing final packaged print ready files

Literature to include:

  • Design and artwork of promotional sheets

  • Design and artwork of the annual company catalogue

  • Design and artwork of customer catalogue pages

  • Design and artwork of product leaflets /product range brochures

Advertising to include:

  • Design and artwork of adverts for press and publications

  • Design and artwork for online publications

POS and Merchandising to include:

  • Create packaging and mock items up for presentations

  • Image manipulation so product samples reflect the final mass produced product

  • Digital retouching/cutting out in Photoshop

  • Manipulation of lifestyle images to create new updated images

  • Vector logo creation

  • Creation of customer own POS concepts

  • Creation of company own POS concepts

Exhibitions to include:

  • Production and development of exhibition/show stands POS

  • Design and artwork of wall graphics for exhibition stands

Web/Online to include:

  • Creation of emails/e-shots through Mailchimp

  • Digital design of microsites

  • Creation of QR codes using software provided

  • Creation of page layouts/graphic visuals for customer websites

Photography to include:

  • Product photography

  • Room Set photography

  • Produce 3D images for mocking up fsdus etc from artwork files

Miscellaneous to include:

  • File management of artwork

  • Implement corporate identity and uphold brand values; work to a brief and within the parameters of the brand guidelines

  • Prepare projects for litho/digital print

  • Produce company related stationery

  • Creation of master powerpoint presentations

  • Create final artwork for printing
